JSI Tip 8197. How can I repair network connectivity issues in Windows 2000?

If you are having unexplained network connectivity issues, try this 'fix of last resort':

01. Start / Settings / Network and Dial-up Connections.

02. Right-click Local Area Connection and press Properties.

03. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and press Properties.

04. Record your IP and DNS settings so you can reset them later.

05. Press OK to close the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties dialog box.

06. With the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item still selected on the Local Area Connection Properties dialog, press Uninstall.

07. Press Yes In the Uninstall Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) dialog.

08. When prompted, restart Windows 2000.

09. Copy / Paste the following into Notepad.exe:

10. Save the file as FixOLR.reg.

NOTE: If you save the file as FixOLR.TXT, you can right-click it and Rename it to FixOLR.reg.

11. Right-click the FixOLR.reg and press Merge, or run regedit /s FixOLR.reg.

12. Shutdown and restart Windows 2000.

13. Start / Settings / Network and Dial-up Connections.

14. Right-click Local Area Connection and press Properties.

15. Press Install.

16. Press Protocol in the Click the type of network component you want to install list and press Add.

17. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in the Network Protocol list and press OK.

NOTE: Set the IP and DNS settings from step 04.
