When a Windows XP user attempts to print to a network printer, they receive an error message.

NOTE: Internet Explorer 6 and Outlook Express do NOT issue an error message, but the document is NOT printed.

The message changes based upon the application they are printing from:

Microsoft Word 2000 Service Release 1 (SR-1): Windows cannot print due to a problem with the current printer setup.

Notepad: The RPC server is unavailable.

Microsoft Paint: Could not start print job.

WordPad: Could not start print job.

Microsoft Power Point 2000: Windows cannot print due to a problem with the current printer setup.

Microsoft FrontPage 2000: Could not start print Job.

The above errors can all be caused if you are unable to locate the print server, due to network problems or if the printer is offline.
