By default, scavenging is disabled on the DNS server and on all zones.

To enable scavenging of stale resource records on all the DNS zones in domain:

1. Open the DNS MMC snap-in.

2. Right-click the DNS server and press Set Aging/Scavenging for All Zones.

3. Check the Scavenge stale resource records box.

4. set the No-refresh interval and Refresh interval values.

5. Press OK.

6. Check the Apply these settings to the existing Active Directory-integrated zones box.

7. Press OK.
