Custom NIC settings in Azure and still use Azure DNS

Q. I want to configure custom settings on an Azure IaaS VM NIC but still want it to use Azure DNS, what do I configure?

A. 168.63.129.16 is a magical address in Azure. It can be used across any region and is key for many of the communications related to Azure functionality. If you set your DNS service in Azure to use 168.63.129.16 then it will use Azure DNS.
