A. If you use the same roaming profile for a Windows client and a Windows 2000 Server Terminal Services client, the profile may be corrupted because changes made to the profile from the Windows client overwrite the Terminal Services profile changes if the Windows client logs off last, and vice-versa. The same is true for multiple Terminal Services client sessions that use the same roaming profile concurrently.

Roaming profiles are useful when all desktops in the workplace have the same applications and settings. However, a Terminal Services server has a different configuration from your desktops, so Microsoft doesn't advise sharing a profile among Terminal Services clients and standard sessions. You should disable this option by performing the following steps:

  1. Start the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in (Start, Programs, Administrative Tools, Active Directory Users and Computers).

  2. Select the Users branch.

  3. Right-click the user whose profile you want to change, and select Properties.

  4. Select the Terminal Services Profile tab.

  5. Remove the User Profile: string.

  6. Click OK.
