New IE11 GPO Templates Incorporate Enterprise Mode for IE Settings

A week or so ago, I walked through how to use IE11's latest Enterprise Mode for IE (EMIE) feature that gives IT Pros the ability to centrally manage web browser compatibility. Using lists and a new tool, administrators can manage web site compatibility across the entire company. IE11 is a wonderful browser, and its single flaw has been the number of older coded web sites and web apps that couldn't run with it, keeping many companies from being able to use it.

Microsoft spent a lot of time working to fix the compatibility issues and the updates released for IE11 on both Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 on April 8, 2014 makes the latest Microsoft browser harder to ignore. Many have been waiting for Microsoft to address the compatibility problems and I've already heard from those thankful that the capability is now available.

Yesterday, as part of the huge rollout of updates on Patch Tuesday, Microsoft also (finally) released the Enterprise Mode Site List Manager tool that allows administrators to centrally manage compatibility lists. And, now they have also released the updated Administrative Templates for IE11 that incorporates settings for EMIE. So, with the updates, the new tool, and the GPOs, the set is complete.
