The barely missed Microsoft antitrust trial lumbered back into the headlinesthis week with news that representatives from the software giant met withthe U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) on Tuesday, hoping to iron out asettlement agreement. While both sides have agreed not to discuss theirtalks publicly, sources close to the negotiations say the two sides arestill quite far apart and when talks broke down Tuesday night and 7 p.m.,nothing had been agreed upon.

Also in the news this week, Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson, who is presidingover the Microsoft antitrust trial, said that the trial would not resumeuntil at least May 10th. The trial is currently in recess so that Jacksonand David Boies, the lead government prosecutor, can attend to other cases
