Microsoft releases Windows Services for UNIX 2.0 Beta 1

Microsoft has released the first beta of its upcoming Windows Services for UNIX 2.0, a collection of tools that ease the integration of UNIX and Windows. Among these tools are UNIX utilities for Windows, ActiveState's ActivePerl scripting engine, Active Directory integration, and more. Windows Services for UNIX 2.0 also includes a Windows NT gateway for NFS so that Windows users can mount UNIX volumes on their systems. And Windows Services for UNIX integrates with Microsoft technologies such as Windows Installer, Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI), and the Microsoft Management Console, making it easier for administrators to maintain and manage heterogeneous environments.
