Microsoft Corporation signed off on Windows 2000 Release Candidate 2 (RC2) on Wednesday as expected, finally bringing the year-old beta into the end game phase. A spokesperson for Microsoft says that Windows 2000 RC2 "went to manufacturing" Wednesday and would be shipped on CD to technical beta testers and Developer Days '99 attendees soon. Corporate Preview Program customers will receive RC2 in approximately two weeks.

"Microsoft is on the verge of shipping Windows 2000," said CEO Bill Gates during a satellite broadcast of his keynote address to DevDays attendees.
