Thanks to Dallman Ross for the tip: Microsoft has released Service Pack 4 (SP4) for Visual Studio 6, a collection of bug fixes and updates for the company's suite of developer products. Visual Studio 6 SP4 is a recommended install for all users of Visual Studio 6, Visual Basic 6, Visual C++ 6, Visual FoxPro 6, Visual InterDev 6, Visual J++ 6, and Visual SourceSafe 6. It includes fixes required for updates to Microsoft Office 2000, Microsoft SQL Server 7, Microsoft Windows, and Internet Explorer. SP4 also includes new versions of Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC), HTML Help, Microsoft Scripting, and OLE Automation. Because service packs are cumulative, SP4 includes all the fixes from SP1, SP2, and SP3.

Service Pack 4 is available today from the Visual Studio Web site as a free 58-129 MB download or CD. Visual Studio Enterprise customers will receive SP4 automatically. MSDN Universal and MSDN Professional subscribers will automatically receive SP4 in the August 2000 shipment. Select customers will be receiving Service Pack 4 in their August shipment. And Microsoft will also be including the SP4 CD into all new Visual Studio 6.0 boxes
