McAfee.com has acquired the antispam technology SpamKiller and plans to add it to McAfee.com's line of managed security solutions. SpamKiller filters messages from POP or Messaging API (MAPI) email accounts to remove junk mail, hoaxes, foreign-language messages, and other mailbox clutter. The creator of SpamKiller, Thor Ivar Ekle, is joining McAfee.com to lead future development of the antispam product line. McAfee.com plans to make a McAfee.com-branded version of SpamKiller available in second quarter 2002.
