Windows XP maintains a Pinned Programs list on the Windows XP Start menu.

NOTE: The Pinned Programs list is NOT maintained on the Classic Start menu.

You can remove this area of the Start menu:

1. Copy / Paste the following to a NoPP.reg file:

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesExplorer]
"NoStartMenuPinnedList"=dword:00000001

2. Merge the NoPP.reg file with the registry or run regedit /s NoPP.reg.

3. The user may have to log off and on for this setting to take effect.
