When you use Control Panel / SYSTEM to change the Registry Size Limit, the PagedPoolSize may be changed from it default setting of 0, which is likely to cause undesirable behavior.

The RSL is limited to 80% of the current, calculated PagedPoolSize. If the value of RSL that you enter is greater than this value, the PagedPoolSize data value is set to a non-zero value.

If the new RSL is less than 80% of physical memory, set the PagedPoolSize back to 0.

NOTE: If RSL exceeds 80% of physical memory, add memory or prune your bloated registry.
