IE 4.0 beta for UNIX and Windows 3.1 now available

Microsoft has released the first preview release of Internet Explorer 4.0for UNIX and the second preview release for Windows 3.1.

IE 4.0 for UNIX maintains the Motif look and feel the UNIX users expect,while integrating with existing UNIX email applications. It also nativelysupports UNIX file types, so that the browser can open files directlyrather than needing to load a second program. IE 4.0 preview release 1 for UNIX include Dynamic HTML support, Explorer bars, Security Zones, andJava support. Currently, IE 4.0 for UNIX runs on a Sun SPARCstation 2 orgreater running Solaris 2.5.1.

Internet Explorer 4.0 preview release 2 for Windows 3.1 (it also runs onWindows NT 3.51) supports Security Zones, Dynamic HTML, Java, andsubscriptions. It also includes Outlook Express, an integrated email application. IE 4.0 for Windows 3.1 uses the same rendering engine as theWindows 95/NT 4 version, so pages will look identical across all systems.
