How do I remove the Windows 2000 Resource Kit time service?

A. To remove the TimeServ Windows 2000 Resource Kit utility, perform the following steps:

  1. Start the Control Panel Services applet, and stop the Time Service.

  2. Start the registry editor (regedt32.exe).

  3. Move to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMControlSet001ServicesEventlogApplication

  4. Select TimeServ, and click Del. Click Yes to the confirmation.

  5. Move to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMControlSet001Services.

  6. Select TimeServ, and click Del. Click Yes to the confirmation.

  7. Move to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesEventlogApplication.

  8. Select TimeServ, and click Del. Click Yes to the confirmation.

If you start the Control Panel Services applet, the TimeServ serviceis disabled and unavailable. Reboot the computer and the OS doesn’t show the TimeServ service.
