A. Win2K includes a Pre-Windows 2000 Compatible Access group that lets you authenticate users who connect to your network through Windows NT 4.0 RAS servers. If the Domain Users group isn't a member of the Pre-Windows 2000 Compatible Access group, perform the following steps:

  1. Start the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in (go to Start, Programs, Administrative Tools, Active Directory Users and Computers).

  2. Select the required server, and select the BUILTIN folder.

  3. In the Details pane, right-click the Pre-Windows 2000 Compatible Access group and select Properties from the context menu.

  4. On the Members tab, click Add (from here, you can also determine whether the Domain Users group is a member of the Pre-Windows 2000 Compatible Access Group).

  5. In the Select Users, Contacts, Computers or Groups dialog box, click the Domain Users group, click Add, and click OK.

  6. Verify that the Domain Users group has been added, and click OK.

  7. Close the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in.

You can also enter the following command at the command line to add the Domain Users group (or another group):

net localgroup "Pre-Windows 2000 Compatible Access" "Domain Users" /add
