How do I install the Windows 2000 terminal services MMC interface?

A. Windows 2000 service pack 1 and above CD supplies an add-on toTerminal Services which allows terminal services sessions to be managed via aMMC interface making it easy to navigate between them.

To install perform the following:

  1. Insert the Windows 2000 Service Pack x CD

  2. Start Explorer

  3. Move to the VALUEADDECP folder

  4. Double click Tsmmcsetup.exe

  5. Click Yes to install the Terminal Services Connections package

  6. Click Yes to the license agreement

  7. Select an install location, %ProgramFiles%Terminal Services MMC Snap-in and click OK

  8. You will be asked if you wish to read the release notes, click No

  9. Click OK to the install completion message

  10. You may need to reboot

Once complete to use perform the following:

  1. Start the MMC (Start - Run - MMC.EXE)

  2. From the Console menu select 'Add/Remove snap-in'

  3. Click Add

  4. Select 'Terminal Services Connections' and click Add

  5. Click Close

  6. Click OK

You can now right click on the root of 'Terminal Services Connections' andselect 'Add New Connect' to create a connection to a Terminal Services server.

Select a connection to switch between them and right click and clickDisconnect to close.
