How can I force IE 4 to use a particular search engine?

A. By default Internet Explorer 4 will use a random search engine whenyou click the Search button however it is possible to force it to a particularsearch engine by editing the registry:
Start the registry editor (regedit.exe)
Move to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftInternet ExplorerSearchUrl
Double click the (Default) value
Set to one of the values in the table below and click OK
Close the registry editor

Infoseek | |
Lycos | |

Yahoo |
