How can I change the password change for computer/trust accounts?

A. The default interval for password changes for a computer/trustaccount can be modified as follows:

  1. Start the registry editor (regedit.exe)

  2. Move to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesNetlogonParameters

  3. From the Edit menu select New - DWORD value

  4. Enter a name of MaximumPasswordAge

  5. Double click the new value and set to the number of days

  6. Click OK

  7. Close the registry editor

In NT 4.0 this value is only available for machines with Service Pack 4 andfor all versions of Windows 2000. Values can be in the range of 1 to 1,000,000.
