Microsoft launched its epic Halo 2 title for the Xbox, a video game that company executives expect will sell more than 10 million copies and garner $100 million in sales on just its first day of availability. In the United State, the Halo 2 launch event was presaged by a "Midnight Madness" event in which thousands of retailers opened their doors to gamers at 12am on November 9, allowing eager fans to buy the game early. The success of Halo 2 comes at a good time for Microsoft, which is expected to announce the sequel to the Xbox at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January. With 18 million units sold, the current Xbox is actually outselling market-leader Sony PlayStation 2 in some markets and is poised for a strong holiday season
