DPM 2012 R2 with Scale-out File Servers

A. Yes and this was actually a major target for the 2012 R2 release of Data Protection Manager, the ability to fully leverage Scale-out File Servers (SoFS) which will become more prevalent as organizations move to converged infrastructures. Features such as backup/restore to the SoFS share, multiple share support, item-level recovery all work with SoFS, even if DPM is installed in a Hyper-V VM.
