Does Microsoft offer a fix for Outlook Web Access (OWA) 2000's problem with accessing public folders from the Folders button on the OWA toolbar?

—Marc A. Hurtubise

The Microsoft article "XCCC: 'Access Is Denied' Error Message When Accessing Folders in Outlook Web Access" (http://support.microsoft.com/ default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;q267569) describes this problem in detail. The problem was a persistent thorn in the sides of many Exchange 2000 Server administrators. OWA users who used a Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN —e.g., bijar.robichaux.net) would end up with a Folders button that pointed to the server name only (i.e., bijar). Generally, that configuration didn't work very well because you couldn't get to folders when you used OWA outside your corporate network. Microsoft fixed this flaw in Exchange 2000 Service Pack 1 (SP1), so the official fix is to install SP1 or a later service pack.
