SharePoint Talk: Spell Checking Custom Forms

In the LinkedIn SharePoint Community Group, a pretty active discussion has been going on regarding spell checking of forms.

George Carter, IT programmer analyst at the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development, asked about the possibility of spell-checking a custom form in its entirety:

"I wanted to create a "Spell Check" button on a custom form such that, when pressed, it spellchecks all text fields (containing a single or multiple lines of text entered by the user) in a single pass. If you've seen this done, can you please give me a hint/idea, or direct me to a reference?

If it's simpler to implement a solution on each individual text field, I'd be interested in hearing about that also. Actually as I type and think about this, I think I prefer this solution since the user can see (alerted while typing or alerted when leaving the field) and correct their mistakes before reaching the end of the form."

Group members weighed in with code and suggestions for leveraging the spell-check capabilities of browsers and SharePoint itself.
