SharePoint Agenda for the Week: Deal with Spring Fever

As April snows melt, and the trees start leafing out, we’re feeling a little spring fever here at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, in Fort Collins, Colorado. We suspect our farflung colleagues, Paul Thurrott, in Massachusetts,  Rod Trent, in Ohio,  Sean Deuby, in Texas,  and Michael Otey, in Oregon,  probably are feeling the same way. Rumor has it that SharePoint Pro writer and development SME Blair Greenwood might bring her new four-legged friend into the office to visit one of these days. Until then, here’s what else we’re looking forward to….

Todds, and Scots, and Megans, Oh My: Creating SharePoint Content for You

A chat with SharePoint MVP Todd Klindt has generated all kinds of ideas we’re looking forward to implementing. Can you guess which article of his is our most popular article EVER at SharePoint Pro?

Scot Hillier and Megan Keller are working hard on the SharePoint track and the overall conference plans, respectively, for September 15-19 IT/Dev Connections in Las Vegas.  We received a ton of great SharePoint session proposals—thank you, everyone!

SQL Server Pro editor Jayleen Heft and I are heading down I-25 to Denver this week to attend the Emerging Technologies Roadshow  at Mile Hi Stadium, sponsored by Catapult Systems. Hoping to get some insights into what’s coming down the pike. Stay tuned for a report on that.

Office 365 and SharePoint Articles

We’ve just put up a great post on the site, too. It’s on transferring your own domain email to Office 365, by our fellow Coloradan and SharePoint expert, Todd Baginski.  Check it out, if you haven’t already.

Later this week, we’ll be publishing the second article in a series about architecting multi-farm SharePoint environments, by Ron Charity, up in Toronto. (Here’s part 1 on getting started – team creation.)

Roadshows and Virtual Events Galore

Wednesday, I’m attending a Microsoft virtual event that will showcase a roadmap for what’s happening with everyone’s favorite software monolith. Should be good, eh? Lots to sort through. I'm totally grooving on the data stuff, which is weird for an English major who dislikes math.

Thursday, our own analytics guy, Dan Cross, in the New York City office, is hosting a webinar for ontent managers, which we’ll check out. Analytics are becoming very important in publishing, as I’m sure many SharePoint people who deal with intranets and extranets are discovering.

And All That Trendy Stuff

And lastly, I’m looking into the latest buzzword, DevOps. What the heck does it mean and why should we care? I hope to have a BS-free answer later this week.
