Patch Tuesday: Support for Microsoft Office 2013 RTM and Exchange 2013 RTM Expires

With the release of its April updates, Microsoft is conveying a notable change in its support policy for Office 2013 and Exchange 2013, and it's easy to miss.

The message has been delivered along with this month's updates. The dates were already provided in Microsoft's product lifecycle tables, and in January the company reiterated the retirement dates in a post on the Support Lifecycle web site. However, for some, it still may come as a surprise this month that support for Office 2013 RTM and Exchange 2013 RTM has expired.

For Exchange: Exchange 2013 RTM, CU1. CU2 and CU3 are no longer supported.

For Office: Microsoft Office 2013 RTM has ended.

To continue to receive updates for both of these products each month, Service Pack 1 is now required. This includes Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Enterprise, Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Standard, Microsoft Office Professional 2013, Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013, Microsoft Office Standard 2013, Microsoft Project Server 2013, Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2013, and Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013.
