Outlook: Scheduling Appointments on the Web

Scheduling an Outlook-compatible appointment through a Web site and changing the default folder in which the Web site places that appointment takes a little extra thought.

I created a public calendar in Outlook. When I click on a Web site that offers to put an appointment directly in my calendar, the Web site puts the appointment in my default personal calendar. How can I make the appointment go into a calendar in Public Folders instead?

Most Web sites that provide Outlook-compatible appointments use iCalendar.ics or vCalendar.vcs files. When you open these files, you see an Outlook appointment. Don't click Save and Close to save the appointment. Instead, click File, Copy to Folder, then select the public folder that contains the calendar. Finally, close the open appointment without saving it.
