Microsoft KB2962872 Breaks InstallShield

UPDATE (July 17, 2014): Microsoft is actively working on a fix that will be delivered via a Microsoft Windows Update at a date to be determined.

After Tuesday's release of Microsoft's security updates, InstallShield users are reporting that the application simply crashes. The culprit, it appears is Microsoft's MS14-037: Security update for Internet Explorer versions 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11.

There are two current workarounds.

The first is to uninstall KB2962872, and the second involves removing some .htm help files. Removing the help files will cause the application to crash on close, but it's usable while it's running.

Flexera Software (the maker of InstallShield) is working on an update to fix the issue.
