Magazines Announce Best of Show Awards

Penton Media magazines Windows & .NET Magazine and SQL Server Magazine announce the "Best of Show" awards at TechEd 2002 in New Orleans.

Penton Media announced that Winternals Software LP’s ERD Commander 2002 won Best Overall Product in the Windows & .NET Magazine and SQL Server Magazine Best of Show Awards at Microsoft TechEd 2002.

“The ERD Commander 2002, with its graphical interface and ability to browse and repair the registry, is a tool that gives system administrators the ability to reboot operating systems from a CD-ROM and also access local disks and network devices,” said Karen Forster, editorial director of Windows & .NET Magazine.  “This product is a time-saver in crisis situations and is a direct match with the needs of the IT customer.”

The winner in the Windows 2000 & .NET category was Net IQ’s Administration Suite, Advanced Edition. Aelita’s Enterprise Directory Manager was named runner-up in that category.  In the SQL Server category, ProClarity’s Analytics Platform was named winner and Compaq’s ProLiant DL760 was named runner-up. In the Exchange Server category, BindView’s bv-Control for Exchange Server was named winner and Net IQ’s AppAnalyzer was named runner up.

“We began this competition with nearly 200 product entries and narrowed the field to 30 finalists through a rigorous selection process," said Forster. "Our lab team chose the final winners based on each product’s strategic importance to the market, the competitive advantages and the value to the IT professional.”

Finalists in the Windows & .NET category were Aelita Software’s Enterprise Directory Manager; BindView’s Security Solution Suite; Full Armor’s Fazam 2000; Heroix's Corp eQ Management Suite; NetIQ's AppManager Suite, Security Manager, and Advanced Administration Suite; Precise Wquinn’s SiteStor; St. Bernard Software’s UpdateEXPERT; and Winternals Software LP’s ERD Commander 2002. 

In the SQL Server category, the finalists were Altova’s XML Spy 4.3 Suite, BindView’s bv-Control for SQL Server, Compaq’s ProLiant DL760, Heroix’s eQ Management Suite, NetIQ’s SQL Management Suite, Red Gate Software’s SQL Compare, ProClarity’s Analytics Platform, Unisys's Enterprise Server, and Vishwak Associates’ EasyStruct Enterprise 4.0. 

The Exchange Server category finalists were BindView’s bv-Control for Exchange Server; Compaq’s Storage Works Virtual Storage Management for Exchange 2000; GFI’s Mail Security for Exchange 2000; Marathon Technologies’ Marathon Exchange Server 3000; NetIQ's Exchange Migrator and AppAnalyzer; PROMODAG’s Reports for Microsoft Exchange Server; Sybari Software’s Antigen for Microsoft Exchange, and Trend Micro’s Scan Mail for Microsoft Exchange 2000.
