Can I use Group Policy to deploy Microsoft Office 2007?

A. Microsoft has published an article that talks about deploying Office 2007 with Group Policy. However, the article doesn't outline the company's recommended approach. Group Policy-based application of Office 2007 is on a per-machine basis only; you can't use MSP customization files. Instead, you must directly update the config.xml file, which includes some of the same customizations as the MSP file.

Alternative approaches include using Microsoft System Management Server (SMS) to deploy Office 2007 or using Group Policy to assign a startup script to initiate Office installation.
