As Promised, OneDrive for Business Now a Stand-alone SKU

Announced at the SharePoint 2014 conference on March 4^th, Microsoft would decouple OneDrive for Business from the completely Office 365 and SharePoint Online subscription package. As of April 1, OneDrive for Business is now a stand-alone SKU for secure file syncing and sharing in the cloud, plus all the benefits of Office integration.

The standalone license gives businesses 25GB of storage per employee and enables the option to purchase more storage. To celebrate the launch, Microsoft is be providing promotional pricing of $2.50 per user, per month (with an annual commitment). That's half off the full price. Additional storage can be purchased for $0.20 per GB.

The promotional pricing will last from April 1 (launch date) until September 2014.

Both OneDrive (consumer version) and OneDrive for Business offer desktop synching, mobile access, web creation and editing of documents, integration with the Office desktop, real time co-authoring of Office documents, and automatic versioning and history.

However, OneDrive for Business adds a slew of business savvy features including auditing and reporting, advanced administration, multifactor authentication, SSO/ADFS/Directory sync, and standards compliance.
