  • The Outlook PST repair utility aims to make any file a personal folders file. For instance, if you create a file, let us say new.pst, the tool will make it a mountable PST file.

Or below is another way to find the file and run it:

 

  • Close MS Outlook.

  • Click 'Start' button, point the mouse over 'Find' or 'Search'.

  • A 'Search for files or folders named' box will appear, type scanpst.exe.

  • Once the file is found, double-click it.

  • Specify the name and path of the .pst file that you want to repair or you can directly locate it by clicking on 'Browse'

  • Click on 'Start'.

 

You should now have a repaired PST file. However, the tool does not give assurance and may fail to achieve its goal, particularly in severe corruption cases. Besides, the utility itself may go corrupt and consequently, the tool begins throwing errors. This is the worst situation as there is no solution you are left with. However, fortunately, it is not true; you can still recover corrupt PST file with the help of an external utility that will work faster and smarter than scanpst.exe.
