Microsoft announced at TechEd this week that it will be porting its JavaVirtual Machine (JVM) to the top five flavors of UNIX and Windows CE "bythe end of the year." The names of the five chosen UNIXs were not disclosed. Microsoft also doubts that Sun will ship Microsoft's version ofthe JVM, even if it is better than Sun's. The new version of the JVM willbe included with Internet Explorer 4.0 for UNIX, which is due by the endof the year as well, according to Microsoft's James Plamondon.

Weird rumor: Microsoft may port the JVM to OS/2, MVS, and AS/40 as well
