Inprise offers to help Microsoft with Java

Inprise chairman and CEO Del Yocam extended an offer to Microsoft this weekthat would bring his company's implementation of Java to Windows in aneffort to help the software giant meet the requirements of a preliminaryinjunction that was handed out earlier this week.

"We want to help them comply with the court ruling. They've been partners with us for a long time," Yocam said. "We hear from [chief information officers] from corporations around the world. They're tired of platform agendas. Here's an opportunity to step up and do the right thing."

Microsoft was given 90 days to replace its proprietary version of Java withone that meets Sun's "100% Pure Java" tests. The company hasn't generatedan official response to the Inprise offer at this time
