The Web offers resources for helping you keep up-to-date with service packs and hotfixes. Here are a few sites you’ll find useful:

  • For Windows 2000 Service Pack 1 (SP1), go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/recommended/sp1/x86Lang.asp. In addition, you can use Microsoft Internet Explorer’s (IE’s) Windows Update feature (choose Windows Update from the Tools menu) to obtain this service pack and other smaller security fixes as they become available.

  • For general security patches and Microsoft hotfixes, go to http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security.

  • For a free email newsletter that provides security alerts, go to http://www.win2000mag.net/email/index.cfm?id=5 and subscribe to Security UPDATE.

  • For security news, articles, FAQs, forums, and more, go to the Windows IT Security site (http://www.WindowsITsecurity.com), which is part of the Windows 2000 Magazine Network.
