How can I restrict which users can install local printer drivers?

A. It is possible to restrict print driver installation so that only Administrators and Print operators (on a server) or Power Users (on a workstation) can install local printer drivers

  1. Start the registry editor (regedit.exe)

  2. Move to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlPrintProvidersLanMan Print ServicesServers

  3. From the Edit menu select New - DWORD Value. Enter a name of AddPrinterDrivers and click OK

  4. Double click on the value and set to 1. Click OK

  5. Close the registry editor

  6. Reboot the machine
