Trusted Platform Module 1.2 Support

Q: How can I easily determine whether my machine has a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) that supports TPM 1.2 specifications?

A: On Windows 8 and Windows 7 machines, you can easily determine whether you have a TPM that supports the correct TPM specification version. Run tpm.msc to open the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) TPM Management snap-in. From the TPM Management console, you can see information about your TPM, including the supported TPM specification version. You can find the supported TPM specification version in the TPM Manufacturer Information section of the console (see Figure 1). If your computer does not have a TPM (or if it is turned off in your computer's BIOS), you'll see a message that says Trusted Platform Module (TPM) cannot be found on this computer.
