Qualys Launches On-Demand SANS Top 20 Scanning Service
Qualys aims to detect and mitigate security weaknesses described in the SANS Top 20 Internet Security Vulnerabilities report.
November 27, 2005
As is the case each November, SANS recently released an updated Top 20 Internet Security Vulnerabilities report. Now Qualys, provider of vulnerability management and policy compliance solutions, has released a free on-demand online scanning service that helps you determine whether your Internet facing systems are vulnerable to any of the issues in the SANS report.
The Qualys scanning service produces a report that shows brief details about discovered vulnerabilities and contains links to further information from related vendors. A spokesperson for Qualys said that the company now provides on-demand scanning services to more than 2000 businesses around the world.
"The SANS Top 20 provides an invaluable tool for helping businesses prioritize their efforts in addressing security vulnerabilities. This year's SANS Top 20 identified two growing areas of risk for organizations: increasing threats in client-side applications and critical vulnerabilities in networking equipment. These are issues that should be identified and addressed within organizations of every size," said Gerhard Eschelbeck, CTO and vice president of engineering at Qualys.
This year's SANS Top 20 report reveals shifting trends in vulnerability patterns. For a synopsis of the updated report read our related articles, "2005 SANS Top 20 List of Vulnerabilities," and "SANS Says Attack Vectors Have Changed."
