Symantec intends to acquire PC Tools, maker of numerous security solutions, and bring the company under the wing of its consumer business unit.

PC Tools offers 13 tools, including anti-spyware, antivirus, a firewall, as well as disk and file management tools among several others. The company is based in Australia with offices in the US, UK, Ireland and the Ukraine, and employs over 200 people worldwide.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. However Symantec did say that PC Tools would maintain separate operations and that PC Tools CEO Simon Clausen would be in charge of operations while reporting to Symantec's Group president of consumer products Janice Chaffin.
