JSI Tip 10341. After you start Internet Explorer on Windows XP, it immediately closes?

If you are running Microsoft Office 2003 on Windows XP, Internet Explorer may close immediately after you start it.

This behavior occurs if the Discuss toolbar is enabled in Internet Explorer. The Discuss toolbar is added to Internet Explorer by the Owsclt.dll COM component when Office 2003 is installed.

To workaround this problem behavior, use either of the following:

Unregister the Owsclt.dll library:

1. Open a CMD.EXE window.

2. Type regsrv32 /s /u Owsclt.dll and press Enter.

Delete a registry CLSID sub-key:

1. Open a CMD.EXE window.

2. Type REG DELETE HKCRCLSID\{BDEADE7F-C265-11D0-BCED-00A0C90AB50F} /F
