Here's an opportunity to put a beta security product through the wringer and possibly win one of several game boxes in the process.

BitDefender is inviting the public to beta test BitDefender Total Security 2008. The product will include new capabilities, including a backup feature, systemmaintenance tools, a new game mode configured tobe less intrusive to fascilitate smooth game playing, and 64-bit support for Windows XP and Windows Vista.

"Gamers are particularly important to the BitDefender Total Security 2008 beta testing contest because of the enhanced gaming features included in the new product," said Carmen Maierean, BitDefender desktop product manager.

The company also said that "the most thorough beta testers" will win prizes, the possibility to get a Sony Playstation 3, a Microsoft Xbox 360, or a Nintendo Wii. Other prizes include a Nokia N90 (a combination cell phone and multilmedia), 30 copies of either World of Warcraft or Command & Conquer 3, as well as free licenses for BitDefender's 2008 consumer product line.

The contest ends July 30, winners will be announced August 30. To take part head over to BitDefender's beta site.

The company will officially release Total Security 2008 in late summer 2007 - so sometime after July 30 apparently.
