EDS Acquires UK-based Vistorm

EDS announced that it has acquired Vistrom, a UK-based provider of information assurance and managed security services.

Vistorm will continue to operate as a separate company with its current management team. EDS will move its existing UK-based security capabilities in into Vistorm. The company currently has 220 employees and earns approximately $100 million per year.

"As security has become a critical business concern, many customers are looking for a holistic approach to secure their IT infrastructures. The Vistorm acquisition will significantly enhance EDS' existing IT security capabilities and enable them to provide leading Information Assurance and Managed Security Services to both existing and new customers," said Irida Xheneti, research analyst at IDC. "This as an important strategic acquisition that will significantly differentiate EDS in the marketplace."

IDC expects the worldwide security market to become worth $37.9 billion annually by 2011.
