A. If you installed Live!Ware drivers for Windows NT or earlier versions, your Windows 2000 machine might not boot and might display the following error:

STOP: 0x0000001E KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED error

To work around this problem, perform the following steps:

  1. Press F8 when you boot the machine to display the options menu.

  2. Select "Safe mode with command prompt."

  3. Move to the %systemroot%system32 folder.

  4. Rename the ctmm32.dll file, changing the extension to .old (i.e., ctmm32.old).

  5. Reboot the machine in Normal mode.

  6. Download and install the latest Windows 2000 drivers.
