Why won't ISA Server let me input the whole username for my dial-up entry?

A. The Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000 GUI doesn't let you enter a username longer than 20 characters (Arrays, Array name, Policy Elements, Dial-up Entries). It also doesn't let you specify a name with more than 20 characters via VBScript. Thus, you have to enter a shorter name, and when you try to connect to a Web site from another computer, ISA returns an error that the dial-up failed, and you then must connect manually.

To work around the problem, you must manually enter your username in the registry. However, be aware that if you subsequently attempt to view the information in the ISA GUI, the GUI will report that the data is too long or contains an invalid character. Take the following steps to enter the username in the registry:

Note: GUID in the registry key above stands for globally unique ID. If you have multiple arrays and aren't sure of the GUID, open each array GUID in turn and change the msFPCUserName. Then for the dial-up entry, select each GUID in turn and change the msFPCUserName.
