A. When you try to map a drive via an IP address, you might receive the following error message:
System error 53 has occurred.
This error occurs when you try to map a drive to a server running one of the following applications:
IBM OS/2 1.3
LAN Manager 2.2
Microsoft Net Server 1.11
Hewlett-Packard UNIX LAN Manager X
To resolve this problem, use the server's NetBIOS name to map the drive:
Start Windows Explorer.
From the Tools menu, select Map Network Drive.
In the Drive box, click the drive letter you want to use.
In the Folder box, type
\[server]\[share]
where [server] is the NetBIOS name of the server to which you want to connect and [share] is the name of a shared folder on that server.Click Finish.
