A. ClearType Tuner is a utility that lets you modify the configuration of the ClearType text display. (ClearType is a feature that improves the readability of text on LCD and high-quality flat panel displays, such as those on laptops.) It's included with Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP, which you can download at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx. Run the downloaded setup.exe image to install ClearType Tuner. You can then access the tool via its shortcut, ClearType Tuning, which is created in the Control Panel. The utility has two modes. Select the Introduction tab to open a wizard that walks you through the tool's configuration. Select the Advanced tab to manually configure the tool, as the figure shows.
