The New, Pearson-Hosted Microsoft Press Online Store Opens for Business
Due to the length of time it took to develop the new web site, some jokingly surmised that the same company that developed Healthcare.gov must've been behind it.

At the beginning of April 2014, Microsoft formally announced that the long-standing deal with O'Reilly Media to distribute Microsoft Press books was over. No real reason was given, but it was stated that Pearson Education won the day and somehow wrestled the contract away from O'Reilly. Pearson beat Microsoft to the announcement, and publicly communicated the change in early March 2014.
As part of the deal, Pearson was to also develop a special web site for Microsoft Press and host the site on their own servers. It took nearly two months but today, the new Microsoft Press store is live:

Due to the length of time it took to develop the new web site, some jokingly surmised that the same company that developed Healthcare.gov must've been behind it.
The new site is nothing special, but does retain some of the look and feel as the general online location for the actual Microsoft Store. So, it's not a total shock to the system.
To help promote the new store launch, Microsoft is offering an entire store sale where you can save 40% on all listed books and eBooks. Just use discount code NEW40 at checkout. If interested, do it quick, as the sale ends on May 11, 2014.
Microsoft Press/Pearson will also be launching an eBook Deal of the Week promotion which you can keep tabs on through a special RSS feed. Each week, on Sunday at 12:01 AM PST / 7:01 AM GMT, a new eBook is offered for a one-week period.
Additionally, you can keep up-to-date by signing up for the monthly and special offers newsletters:
