Schedule Maintenance Mode for OpsMgr 2012 with New Tool

Maintenance Mode is a feature in Microsoft System Center Operations Manager that suspends the monitoring of managed object. You might want to put managed computers into maintenance mode when performing things like software update installations or hardware replacements. When you have planned outages, maintenance mode will pause monitoring so that the OpsMgr server is not slammed with alerts.

Timothy McFadden, a Microsoft Senior Premier Field Engineer, has release a new web-based service to enable scheduling of OpsMgr maintenance mode. The service support OpsMgr 2012, OpsMgr 2012 SP1, and OpsMgr 2012 R2. Since its web-based, it can be accessed through a web site setup in your organization or integrated into the standard OpsMgr console by creating a web link.

SCOM 2012 Maintenance Mode Scheduler comes with a price. It cost $99 for one year of updates, $149 for two years of updates, or $299 for life.

There's also an accompanying Windows 8.1 app to go along with it. The app can be found in the Windows App Store and provides a nice Metro-style interface. The Windows 8.1 app is free.
