You may have occasion to want to save a separate copy of an embedded object. For example, you might have a PowerPoint presentation with an embedded Excel worksheet, and you might want to have that worksheet saved as an independent file. Many embedded objects will allow you to do just that.

To save an embedded object to an independent file:

  1. Activate (double-click) the object.

  2. Click the File menu.

  3. Look for a command such as Save As Copy or Save To File.

If such a command is not available, there is another approach.

  1. Activate (double-click) the object.

  2. Open the application from the Start menu and begin a new document.

  3. Copy the contents of the object and paste them into the new document.
