Q: Where is Trace32.exe in System Center Configuration Manager 2012?

A: In System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) 2007 and earlier versions, a tool called Trace32.exe was available as part of the SCCM support tools, which made viewing the SCCM log files easier.

The bad news is you won’t find Trace32.exe in SCCM 2012. The good news is that’s because it’s been renamed CMTrace.exe and is now part of SCCM 2012, installed in the C:Program FilesMicrosoft Configuration Managertools folder by default.

A version of CMTrace is also available during OS deployments with SCCM 2012, to aid troubleshooting. It can be found in the x:smsbin folder.
