The installation of Internet Explorer 7 can take a long time, more than a half an hour, but when you attempt to install it, the installation hangs.

This behavior is generally the result of Windows Update being unable to install updates for Internet Explorer 7. The installation dialog enables the Install the latest updates for Internet Explorer and the Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool (recommended) check box by default.

To workaround this problem:

1. Start the Internet Explorer 7 installation.

2. Press Next on the Welcome to Windows Internet Explorer 7 page.

3. Review and accept the license agreement by pressing I Accept.

4. Press Validate to validate the Windows installation.

5. Clear the Install the latest updates for Internet Explorer and the Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool (recommended) check box on the Get the latest updates page.

6. Press Next.

7. Press Restart Now (Recommended) after a successful installation of Internet Explorer 7.
